Ozark R-VI Schools has named Penmac Education Staffing to provide substitute teachers beginning in the fall 2023 semester.
Penmac Staffing, which was founded in Springfield, MO in 1988 to provide HR services to area businesses, started its Education Staffing division in 2014, and currently serves 19 school districts in Missouri. Its Education Staffing division helps districts recruit, screen, train, and schedule substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. Substitutes become employees of Penmac, meaning they receive weekly pay, affordable health care options from day one, retirement benefits after one year of employment, and ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities.
Ozark R-VI Schools has approximately 6,000 students and 450 certified teachers. The district has eight schools, housing pre-k to twelfth grade, graduating 400 students last year—a 97.6% graduation rate. The district’s mission, “to provide high-quality education for each student’s future-readiness is in line with Penmac Education Staffing’s goal that students don’t miss a day of learning when the teacher is away. Leaders from both organizations are looking forward to a great relationship. “We are thrilled to announce that our company has entered into a partnership with Ozark School District to provide substitute teachers for their schools,” said Steven Sparkman, Director of Education for Penmac Education Staffing. “We believe that this partnership will be mutually beneficial for both our company and the school district, as it will help ensure that students receive uninterrupted instruction and support, while also providing our substitute teachers with valuable experience and opportunities to grow as educators. We look forward to working closely with Ozark School District and building a strong and successful partnership that benefits everyone involved.”
Those interested in subbing for Ozark R-VI Schools, including those who have worked with the district in the past, should apply online at www.penmaceducation.com. Substitute teachers are required to have a Substitute Certificate issued by the Department of Education (DESE) and need to pass multiple background checks. Once you apply, call Penmac at 417-616-6365 to expedite your application. Penmac will also announce dates this summer where staff will be onsite at the district onboarding substitutes. Substitutes have the flexibility of creating their own schedules, and will also be eligible for opportunities in other districts partnered with Penmac, including Springfield, Republic, Willard, Clever, Logan-Rogersville and more.
